Summary

The Astros Golf Foundation, proud host organization of Houston’s PGA TOUR event, the Texas Children’s Houston Open, is seeking a Tournament Services Intern to support finance and executive operations for the tournament and other high-profile events. Responsibilities include customer billing, vendor payments, data entry, maintaining financial records, project coordination, stakeholder communication, budget tracking, and executive-level administrative support. Interns will work closely with leadership, vendors, and departments such as Volunteers, Ticketing, Sponsorship, Operations, Finance, and Retail. Candidates must be professional, detail-oriented, and capable of handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Support project management for event planning, including tracking timelines and key deliverables.
  • Assist with executive-level administrative tasks such as preparing materials and coordinating meetings.
  • Serve as a primary point of communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • manage event budgets and maintain financial records.
  • Provide hands-on support during the Texas Children’s Houston Open and other Astros Golf Foundation events.
  • Collaborate across departments—including Sponsorship, Volunteers, Ticketing, Finance, and Operations—to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Organize and maintain confidential documents with discretion.
  • Contribute to process improvements and gain exposure to high-level event operations and management.
  • Process deposits and invoices; send invoices to customers.
  • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare audit support documentation.
  • Maintain financial records.
  • Perform data entry.
  • Handle general finance administrative tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • At least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled in a related field (Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field) between January & May
  • Reside or willing to relocate to/near the Houston, Texas area from January 5-May 15, 2026, at your own expense.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High level of professionalism with ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Superior attention to detail and deadline orientation.
  • Ability to work efficiently.
  • Highly motivated with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to maintain discretion concerning confidential records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills.

 

Work Environment

This job will operate in both an office and golf course setting. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the golf course environment. This role can require physical work and will sometimes require work in the elements (wind, rain, warm, cold, etc).  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time. 

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a paid internship.

Typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interns are required to be onsite during the week of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, as well as for all other events produced by the Astros Golf Foundation throughout the period of their internship.

 

Travel:

This position does not require travel.
