ABOUT US

The Staten Island FerryHawks are dedicated to creating a vibrant, fan-first experience on and off the field. Competing in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an MLB Partner League, we play our home games at SIUH Community Park on the St. George waterfront, combining competitive professional baseball with year-round community entertainment. Our internship program gives students hands-on, educational experience alongside and under the supervision of the staff who run a professional sports organization, in their chosen area of study.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Videography Intern gains hands-on experience with how video is captured for a professional baseball team. Under the supervision of the video staff, the intern learns camera and audio work and how footage for highlights, features, and social content is planned and shot, a professional environment that is hard to replicate anywhere else.
WHAT THE INTERN WILL EXPERIENCE AND LEARN
Under the supervision of the staff member they report to, and as part of their training, the intern will gain hands-on experience with and exposure to the following. Staff lead the work; interns learn by observing and assisting.
  • Learn how game action, features, and promotions are planned and shot.
  • Gain hands-on experience with cameras, stabilizers, and audio gear under supervision.
  • Observe how footage is logged, organized, and handed off to the editing staff.
  • See how the video team plans coverage around key moments of a game.
  • Build practice footage for your own portfolio, reviewed by staff as training.
  • Experience how a professional video operation runs on a game day.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in film, video production, communications, digital media, or a related field, and able to earn academic credit through their school.

COMPENSATION & ACADEMIC CREDIT

This is an unpaid internship, offered for academic credit only, in conjunction with the student's school and in accordance with that school's requirements for earning credit. It is an educational training experience, not employment. The intern is not an employee for minimum wage or overtime purposes, is not guaranteed a job at the end of the internship, is free to pursue other opportunities in the field, and receives no employee benefits. The student arranges credit through their college or university, and the FerryHawks coordinate with the school and provide the documentation and supervisor sign-off the school requires.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
