ABOUT THE CLUB
Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities, with over 5,000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The team plays in the pre-professional USL W League, featuring some of the best amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and around the world. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
Interns are expected to participate in the organization, as is required of all staff, in preparation for and during the season.

Everyone is expected to be available for all home games, including pre-season exhibition games (early May) and post-season playoff games (weekends in July). In addition, there may be other events led by your department where attendance and support are expected (e.g., kit reveal, community owner events, inventory, season ticket-holder events, volunteer appreciation, and more).

Aurora FC understands that individual circumstances may differ. We expect clear and immediate communication if you are unable to attend an in-season event or game, or if you need to make schedule adjustments during a certain period.

To create the best possible environment where all parties feel supported, engage in deep learning, and maintain a balanced life, all interns are expected to participate in regular one-on-one meetings with their manager, as well as department meetings.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This internship is part of the Minnesota Aurora FC program, creating opportunities for individuals historically underrepresented in sports to develop professionally through hands-on, meaningful work experience that directly supports the growth and development of the club.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Title: Coordinate the Scheduling of Kids Crew Groups

Manager: Andrea Carroll-Franck
Department: Community
Duration: Mid-March – End of Season

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Identify, schedule, coordinate, and support community groups to bring young people to serve as Player Pals and Ball Kids during Aurora game days.

Tasks:

  • Work with the Community Department to identify key partners with large youth groups
  • Recruit participants:
    • Player Pals: Ages 6–12 (22–25 youth)
    • Ball Kids: Ages 14–18 (10–12 youth)
  • Communicate with key contacts to schedule Kids Crew for Aurora game days
  • Update the Game Day Guide with relevant information (parking, check-in, security, roles, etc.)
  • Inventory Kids Crew materials (t-shirts, wristbands, signage, waivers, etc.) and order or prepare as needed
  • Coordinate with the Game Day Manager regarding wristbands and security requirements
  • Work with Sponsorships and Merchandise to ensure correct t-shirt quantities and timely delivery
  • Coordinate with Marketing/Communications for signage needs and production
  • Ensure Kids Crew gifts are ordered, received, and stored properly
  • Organize a designated storage space for Kids Crew materials
  • Help set up check-in areas at each venue with necessary materials
  • Print and organize waivers in multiple languages for each game

Title: Kids Crew Game Day Management

Duration: May – End of Season

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Ensure all Kids Crew members and their guardians have a positive, smooth, and enjoyable game day experience.

Tasks:

  • Assist in setting up the Kids Crew check-in area (tables, signage, materials, etc.)
  • Provide on-site support for questions, directions, or basic needs
  • Check in youth participants and accompanying adults:
    • Players: Receive t-shirt, gift, and wristband
    • Adults: Sign waiver and receive corresponding wristbands
  • Coordinate with the Kids Crew Lead to manage instructions and assignments

Player Pals Responsibilities:

  • Pass through security and line up with players
  • Walk onto the field and stand with players during the national anthem
  • Return to guardians after the ceremony

Ball Kids Responsibilities:

  • Take positions around the field
  • Return balls quickly during gameplay
  • Take halftime breaks and return to guardians after the match
  • Escort groups through security and manage waiting periods
  • Ensure participants feel comfortable, supported, and safe (water, restroom, etc.)
  • Ensure all youth are safely reunited with their guardians

Important Note:
This role requires availability to work in the office at least one business day prior to each game for preparation tasks. In-person attendance is required for all games, from setup to teardown.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical event setup tasks
  • Experience setting up tents, signage, and event materials
  • Ability to read and follow maps for setup placement
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills

Internships with Minnesota Aurora FC are unpaid.
