Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities, with over 5,000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The team plays in the pre-professional USL W League, featuring the best amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and around the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
Interns are expected to participate fully in the organization as required of all staff in preparation for and during the season.

  • Must be available for all home games, including pre-season exhibition games (early May) and post-season playoff games (weekends in July).
  • May be expected to attend other department-led events such as kit reveals, community owner events, inventory, season ticket-holder events, and volunteer appreciation activities.
  • Clear and immediate communication is expected if you cannot attend an event or need schedule adjustments.
  • Regular one-on-one meetings with your manager and department meetings are required to ensure support, learning, and balance.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This internship is part of the Minnesota Aurora FC program, designed to create opportunities for people historically underrepresented in sports to develop professionally through hands-on, meaningful work experience that directly supports the growth and development of the club.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Title: Assist the Game Day Manager to Coordinate and Operate Game Days

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Support the Game Day Manager so all elements of operating an Aurora FC game are planned, prepared, executed, and assessed. The aim is a seamless fan experience across all departments.

Tasks:

  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of match day activities, including on-field operations and upper concourse management.
  • Provide flexible on-site support to multiple departments (ticketing, fan experience, security, media, team operations), quickly addressing issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the Game Day Manager and Volunteer Coordinator during games to troubleshoot in real time and ensure operational continuity.
  • Assist in the development, organization, and ongoing refinement of game day documentation (production timelines, workflows, venue maps, staff briefing materials, etc.) and flag concerns to the Game Day Manager.
  • Learn and apply league rules and policies, including weather protocols, field standards, and other USL regulations.
  • Assist with reviewing setup/teardown checklists and operational timelines prior to each match.

Note: This position requires in-office work at least one business day prior to each game for preparation and in-person attendance at all games from setup to teardown.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs, reach overhead, navigate stairs, and move throughout the stadium.
  • Experience setting up pop-up tents, zip-tying or rope-tying banners, weighting A-frames.
  • Ability to read maps and determine item placement.
  • Ability to work as a team, delegate tasks, and complete multi-person setups efficiently.
