ABOUT THE CLUB

Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities, with over 5,000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The team plays in the pre-professional USL W League, featuring the best amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and around the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

Interns are expected to actively participate in the organization, as required of all staff, in preparation for and during the season. Everyone is expected to be available for all home games, including pre-season exhibition games (early May) and post-season playoff games (weekends in July).

In addition, interns may be required to attend and support other events led by their department, such as:

  • Kit reveals
  • Community owner events
  • Inventory organization
  • Season ticket-holder events
  • Volunteer appreciation events

Minnesota Aurora FC understands that individual circumstances may differ. However, clear and timely communication is expected if you are unable to attend an in-season event or need schedule adjustments.

To foster a supportive and productive environment, all interns are expected to:

  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with their manager
  • Attend regular department meetings

POSITION OVERVIEW

This internship is part of the Minnesota Aurora FC program, which creates opportunities for individuals historically underrepresented in sports to develop professionally through hands-on, meaningful work that directly supports the club’s growth.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Title: Lead the full setup and teardown of game days
Manager: Game Day Manager
Department: Game Day
Duration: May – End of Season

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Game day setup and teardown processes are well-planned, simple for new volunteers, and executed flawlessly in a consistent and repeatable manner.

TASKS

  • Develop, review, and print setup and teardown checklists
  • Communicate procedures prior to each game
  • Partner with the Game Day Manager to identify and deploy Volunteer Specialists
  • Serve as the primary lead for game-day setup and teardown operations
  • Supervise and direct interns and volunteers during setup and teardown
  • Track all materials in inventory spreadsheets and ensure they are easily locatable
  • Identify immediately if materials are missing, low, or need attention
  • Document processes throughout the season to standardize and simplify operations

Note:
This position requires:

  • Availability to work in the office at least one business day prior to each game
  • In-person availability for all games, from setup through teardown

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to raise arms overhead, navigate stairs, and move between indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Experience setting up:
    • Pop-up tents
    • Banners (zip-tying or rope-tying)
    • Weighted A-frames
  • Ability to read maps for item placement
  • Strong teamwork skills, including task delegation and coordination
