ABOUT THE CLUB

Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities, with over 5,000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The team plays in the pre-professional USL W League, featuring top amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and around the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

Interns are expected to actively participate in the organization, as required of all staff, in preparation for and during the season. All interns must be available for:

  • Pre-season exhibition games (early May)
  • All home games
  • Post-season playoff games (weekends in July)

Additionally, interns may be required to attend and support department-led events such as:

  • Kit reveals
  • Community owner events
  • Inventory organization
  • Season ticket-holder events
  • Volunteer appreciation events

Minnesota Aurora FC understands that individual circumstances may differ; however, clear and timely communication is expected if you are unable to attend events or require schedule adjustments.

To support a productive and balanced environment, interns are expected to:

  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with their manager
  • Attend department meetings

POSITION OVERVIEW

This internship is part of the Minnesota Aurora FC program, designed to create opportunities for individuals historically underrepresented in sports to gain hands-on, meaningful experience that directly contributes to the club’s growth and development.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

1. Design & Creative Execution

Manager: Maeve Gimpl
Department: Marketing
Duration: Mid-April – Mid-July

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Support Minnesota Aurora’s marketing and communications by creating visually engaging, on-brand graphics and multimedia content across digital and game-day platforms.

Tasks:

  • Design graphics for digital channels (social media, email marketing, mobile app, website)
  • Assist with game-day creative needs (match graphics, promotions, real-time content)
  • Create simple motion graphics or animated assets (preferred but not required)
  • Ensure brand consistency across all visual materials
  • Collaborate with marketing, social, and partnerships teams on campaigns
  • Develop assets for ticketing, promotions, sponsorships, and community initiatives
  • Prepare creative files for multiple formats and platforms

2. Asset Management & Production

Department: Marketing
Duration: April – July

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Maintain an organized, up-to-date, and high-quality creative asset system to support efficient production and accurate design deliverables.

Tasks:

  • Organize and maintain the creative asset library
  • Resize, update, and version existing creative materials
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of all design outputs

This internship is unpaid.
