Entering their fourth season (Junction FC) and third season (Rhodies FC), both clubs host home matches at Nino Cantu Stadium. West Seattle Junction FC (men's team, USL League Two) and Rhodies FC (women's team, USL W League) deliver affordable, community-centered soccer experiences that bring neighbors together on matchday. We are committed to providing an elite soccer environment that celebrates local pride and neighborhood access.

Role Overview

Develop practical skills in professional sports commerce while contributing to a memorable matchday experience. Working directly with the Director of Operations, the Merchandising & Retail Operations Intern assists with every facet of the club's retail presence for both West Seattle Junction FC and Rhodies FC. This includes managing matchday sales, organizing inventory, visual merchandising, and handling digital order fulfillment.

Responsibilities

Retail Operations
  • Support on-site retail activities before, during, and after home fixtures for both squads (about 12 matches/season)
  • Execute product displays and visual setups that align with established club branding
  • Maintain organized stock levels through consistent replenishment and inventory tracking
  • Handle point-of-sale transactions and provide professional guest assistance
  • Assist with the management of retail technology and POS software systems
  • Contribute to retail performance reporting and inventory auditing procedures
E-Commerce & Fulfillment
  • Support club e-commerce, including processing orders, shipping logistics, and customer inquiries
  • Help curate and maintain the official online team store
  • Partner with the marketing department on email outreach and new product debuts
Merchandising & Vendor Support
  • Evaluate market trends and identify potential new vendors or merchandise concepts
  • Propose creative ideas to enhance the overall supporter shopping experience
Event & Cross-Department Support
  • Gain exposure to broader matchday logistics and stadium operations
  • Collaborate across various teams, including marketing, ticketing, and team ops
  • Assist with special club programming and season ticket holder gatherings
  • Help with merchandising sales at 2-3 local events (West Seattle Garage Sale Day, street fairs, etc.)
  • Provide additional operational support as required

Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Business, or a related field; a passion for community-centered sports is highly valued
  • Previous background in retail environments or guest service roles is preferred
  • Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative, detail-oriented mindset
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and basic creative platforms like Canva
  • Familiarity with Square payments a plus
  • Reliable availability for all home matches, including some evenings and weekends
  • Capable of remaining on your feet for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Consistent transportation to Nino Cantu Stadium and event sites
