ABOUT THE CLUB

Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities, with over 5,000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The team plays in the pre-professional USL W League, featuring top amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and around the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

Interns are expected to actively participate in the organization, as required of all staff, in preparation for and during the season. Everyone must be available for all home games, including:

  • Pre-season exhibition games (early May)
  • Post-season playoff games (weekends in July)

Additionally, interns may be required to attend and support department-led events such as:

  • Kit reveals
  • Community owner events
  • Inventory organization
  • Season ticket-holder events
  • Volunteer appreciation events

Minnesota Aurora FC understands that individual circumstances may differ; however, clear and timely communication is expected if you are unable to attend events or require schedule adjustments.

To foster a supportive and productive environment, interns are expected to:

  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with their manager
  • Attend department meetings

POSITION OVERVIEW

This internship is part of the Minnesota Aurora FC program, designed to create opportunities for individuals historically underrepresented in sports to gain hands-on, meaningful experience that directly supports the club’s growth and development.

As a Social Media Intern, you will gain real-world experience managing and creating content for a professional sports organization. You will support the Social Media & Content Coordinator in executing campaigns, engaging with fans, and tracking performance metrics while learning social media strategy and digital marketing.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

1. Social Media Intern

Goal / Intended Outcome:
Gain hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, and engagement tracking while contributing to the growth of Aurora’s online presence.

Tasks:

  • Monitor social media accounts for engagement opportunities and escalate key interactions
  • Help maintain website content (player bios, articles, event updates)
  • Support planning and execution of photo/video shoots
  • Assist with social media coverage during home games (content capture, posting updates, sponsor elements)
  • Present ideas for posts, including photo, video, and graphic concepts
  • Support sponsor and community engagement deliverables (materials, reporting, outreach)
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for campaigns and promotions

2. Photography / Content

Capture compelling, on-brand visuals that tell the story of Aurora, its players, and its community throughout the season.

Tasks:

  • Photograph games, training sessions, events, and behind-the-scenes moments
  • Edit and organize photos for social media, website, and marketing use
  • Maintain and manage the team’s photo archive
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on content needs
  • Deliver game-day images within the same day or next day
