The Quaker Internship Program serves to provide the next generation of industry leaders with hands-on exposure to the inner workings of collegiate athletics and recreation. Our Quaker Interns help further Penn’s strategic goals and objectives, while in return our interns leave with a new and unique perspective on the industry they are actively pursuing. All applicants must be eligible to receive academic credit.

Internship Description
The Applied Sports Science Intern will support 33 varsity athletic programs by connecting objective feedback to practical insights for Penn’s Strength and Conditioning staff. The intern will help enhance performance data systems by translating coaches’ training processes into metrics and visuals that inform decision-making for more than 1,000 student-athletes. Responsibilities include supporting data collection, cleaning, organization, and analysis, assisting with ad-hoc reporting for coaching staff, and developing and maintaining athlete monitoring tools. This role offers a high degree of independence and is a hybrid position requiring 15–20 hours per week.

Internship Qualifications
•A base-level knowledge of performance training (lifting, sprinting, etc.) is expected
•Experience with statistics and data analysis in R, Python, or SQL is recommended
•Experience with data visualization and dashboard development is preferred
•Eagerness to learn new tools independently, with regular mentor check-ins
•Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
•Experience with AI platforms is a plus
