As our Accounting Intern, you'll spend the 2025-2026 NBA Season supporting key projects that enhance financial systems, streamline processes, and improve data integrity within NetSuite and other financial platforms. This role offers hands-on experience in financial reporting, compliance, and process optimization while contributing to long-term improvements through documentation, automation, and training initiatives. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to drive efficiency, ensuring finance operations run smoothly and effectively. 

 

About the Internship:

  • Internship Duration: August 26, 2025 to April 24, 2026, with the potential for an extension.
  • Part-time Commitment: Expect to work an average of 28 hours per week.
  • Location: Portland, Oregon; this is an on-site role, not remote.

As our Accounting Intern, you will:

  • Lead the cleanup and standardization of vendor, customer, and financial records in NetSuite to support system modernization and enhance data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with finance and sales teams to streamline contract entry and reporting in NetSuite, improving financial visibility and compliance.
  • Develop structured classification methods for financial data in NetSuite to enhance analytics, reporting, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Assist in integrating vendor records and sales contracts into NetSuite, ensuring proper categorization and compliance while identifying efficiency improvements in payment terms and cash flow management.
  • Design and build online finance training modules to promote company-wide adoption of key policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive SOP repository to establish best practices and ensure process consistency across finance operations.
  • Analyze Zendesk inquiries, identify common difficulties, and propose automation or workflow improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Design and publish a Finance Department Yearbook that highlights key roles, responsibilities, and departmental impact, serving as a long-term reference for new and existing team members.
  • Review Concur expense reports, identify trends in policy exceptions, and propose updates to improve compliance and accountability.
  • Assist in financial tracking and bookkeeping for charitable initiatives, ensuring clear documentation and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Conduct an audit of donation and gift-handling processes, document best practices, and develop a reference guide to maintain long-term policy adherence.
  • Lead department filing projects and assist in optimizing year-end payroll documentation workflows to streamline future processing.
  • Gain hands-on experience with financial closing processes by supporting G/L reconciliations and journal entries, contributing to accurate financial reporting.

  • Are familiar with accounting principles, financial reporting, and data entry.

  • Have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Are available to work a flexible schedule, which could include office hours, Trail Blazers home games, and evening/weekend responsibilities.
