Social Media Intern
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dallas Mavericks organization is seeking a motivated, outgoing, and dedicated Seasonal Social Media Temp to help the social team with their continued success. The ideal candidate is creative and organized with a can-do attitude and willingness to help the social media efforts across the business. This role will provide an expansive opportunity for the candidate to cover Dallas Mavericks games and events, work with the full content team daily, and grow their social media career.
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:
- October 6, 2025 โ April 30, 2026. (Duration may change because of performance and/or business needs)
- Mandatory In-Person Internship Development Session. (Once a month)
- Must be able to work up to 29 hours per week (3-4 days/wk.), which may include nights and weekends as needed.
JOB FUNCTION:
- Assist in ideating and executing social media campaigns
- Provide on-site coverage for select Dallas Mavericks basketball games via Instagram, X, TikTok and Facebook
- Cover Dallas Mavericks events on social: sponsorship, player, and community events as assigned.
- Monitor emerging social media trends, conversations, and engagement that may align with the Dallas Mavericks brand.
- Keep all content and social media calendars up to date
- Collaborate with the rest of the Dallas Mavericks content department for successful content development and to ensure social media presence is in line with the Dallas Mavericks brand and voice
- Assist the social team to strategize and activate sponsored and branded content, activations, and campaigns
- Other essential duties, that assist with day-to-day operations
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of established and emerging social media platforms.
- Experience in capturing and editing cell phone content.
- Knowledge of pop culture, current events, and social media/internet culture.
- Social media creativity and swift adaptability to current events.
- Knowledge of the game of basketball, Dallas Mavericks team news (both current and historical), and NBA storylines.
- Strong writing, creative, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays for possible Dallas Mavericks games and events.
- Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner while taking initiative.
- Outstanding communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
- Photography, social video editing and Photoshop skills are a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be currently enrolled in a college program specific to marketing and/or social media.
