    SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of  the Athletic Director and Principal.

    Description: 
    The Gainesville Athletic Department is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Paid Athletic Coordinator Intern. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in athletic administration and event management within a dynamic sports environment. The intern will work closely with the Athletic Director,  Head Coaches and other staff members to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of various athletic events and activities.

    Job Summary: This is a paid internship. The hourly rate will be $20 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
    • Athletic Programs Intern #1 - Football, Swim, Tennis, Golf & E-Sports
    • Athletic Programs Intern  #2 - Softball, Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer & Track
    • Athletic Programs Intern #3 - Volleyball, Cross Country, Cheer, Wrestling & Baseball
     

    Responsibilities:

     
    • Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of athletic events, including game day operations, tournaments, and practices.
    • Coordinate event logistics, such as scheduling, venue setup, equipment management, and vendor coordination.
    • Assist with the management of team communications, including disseminating information to coaches, athletes, and parents.
    • Help to maintain accurate records of athlete eligibility, team rosters, and event results.
    • Provide support in the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies to enhance event attendance and engagement.
    • Assist with the management of athletic facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
    • Collaborate with coaches and other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of athletic programs.
    • Assist with budget management, including tracking expenses and processing invoices.
    • Provide excellent customer service to athletes, coaches, parents, and spectators.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
    Qualifications:
    • Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in sports management, recreation management, or a related field
      Strong interest in sports administration and event management.
      Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
      Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of people.
      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
      Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
     

    Preferred Qualifications:

     
    • Previous experience in a sports-related environment.
    • Knowledge of specific sports rules and regulations.
    • Experience managing social media accounts for a sports team or athletic organization.
    • Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and social media management tools.
    • ?Basic graphic design and video editing skills..
     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
    Routine physical activities associated with typical office setting. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling and repetitive fine motor activities. Vision, hearing and verbal communications are essential functions of this position.
