About the Columbus River Dragons
The Columbus River Dragons, members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) since 2019, are a professional hockey team located in Columbus, Georgia. Position Summary
The Columbus River Dragons, a proud member of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), are seeking passionate, driven, and creative college students for a Broadcasting Internship. This opportunity is designed for students looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in broadcasting, media relations, and digital content creation within a professional sports organization. Interns will become an integral part of the in-game production and media team, contributing to the River Dragons' fan experience and digital presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with live broadcasting duties for all River Dragons home games, including setup, on-air support, and post-game wrap-up.
- Support the creation of highlight packages for both home and away games, optimized for web and social media.
- Write engaging feature stories, game previews, and recaps for publication on the River Dragons' website and other platforms.
- Prepare game notes, player bios, and statistical materials for league distribution and broadcast/media use.
- Assist in video content production for promotional, social, and marketing campaigns.
- Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional media projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Media & Communications team.
Qualifications
- Prior broadcasting or journalism experience.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in sports broadcasting, journalism, or communications.
- Availability including nights, weekends, and all home games.
- Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills.
- Professional demeanor and ability to perform in media zones and high-visibility environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Familiarity with the sport of ice hockey is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- 17+ years of age.
- This is not a paid internship, but may be used for course credit.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
