The Columbus River Dragons, members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) since 2019, are a professional hockey team located in Columbus, Georgia. Position Summary
The Event Management/Game Operations Intern will play an active role in the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of all River Dragons home games and select events. Interns will work closely with the Game Operations Manager to ensure smooth execution of all in-game logistics and fan-facing activations, while supporting the creation of a best-in-class experience for players, partners, and fans.
Key Responsibilities
  •  Assist in the setup and teardown of all home games, including signage, promotional materials, hospitality areas, and fan engagement stations.
  • Support the planning and execution of all in-game promotions, theme nights, and intermission activities.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop detailed event timelines and game scripts for each home game.
  • Oversee assigned areas during games such as group seating zones, and VIP spaces, ensuring a high standard of service and experience.
  • Provide hands-on assistance during games, including decorating, escorting VIPs, managing giveaways, and troubleshooting logistical needs.
  • Track and maintain inventory of event equipment, ensuring proper usage and organization.
  • Assist in additional operational and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Ability to commit to evening and weekend hours, including all River Dragons home games.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, fans, and corporate partners.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  •  Experience in event operations, live entertainment, or customer service preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and maintain professionalism at all times. 
  • This is not a paid internship, but may be used for course credit.
  • 17+ years of age.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Quick thinker with the ability to adapt under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Energetic, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Familiarity with professional or collegiate sports operations.
