The Gary SouthShore RailCats are seeking current college students to be a part of the team’s 2025 season. As a RailCats Grounds intern, you will get first-hand experience in the day-to-day operation of a professional baseball franchise. This is a seasonal internship position which requires college credit and will last the duration of the 2025 season only.
RailCats baseball is looking for Grounds Crew interns for the 2025 season. Interns will assist the Head Groundskeeper in the daily maintenance of the Steel Yard.
GROUNDS CREW RESPONSIBILITIES:
RailCats baseball is looking for Grounds Crew interns for the 2025 season. Interns will assist the Head Groundskeeper in the daily maintenance of the Steel Yard.
GROUNDS CREW RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mowing
- Edging
- Fertilizing
- Pesticide applications
- Maintenance of clay surface
- Maintenance of Warning track
- Maintenance of Mound and plate
- Other duties as assigned
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
- Have Fun
- Be excited to work in a professional sports environment
- Fan and community engagement
- Assist with stadium cleanliness
- Assist with all tarp pulls - which may include non-game days, weekends and or holidays
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate or graduate student attending accredited university
- Must be able to earn college credit for internship - no exceptions
- Must be able to commit to work the entire internship period from start to finish
- Willingness and ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Highly motivated with strong work ethic & organizational skills for multiple tasks
- Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment
Availability
- Internship may start as soon as May 1st and can run through first week of September
