Orlando Valkyries – Game Day Operations & Community Relations Intern

Position Summary
The Game Day Operations & Community Relations Intern will support the Orlando Valkyries’ business operations team through hands-on experience in event execution, fan engagement, and community outreach. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to professional sports operations while contributing to the team’s mission of delivering exceptional matchday experiences and building meaningful relationships across Central Florida. The intern will work closely with the Manager of Game Day Operations & Community Relations and other departments to assist with logistics, staffing, and outreach initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Game Day Operations Support
Assist with venue setup and breakdown for home matches, including signage, equipment, and fan zones.
Support in-game entertainment elements such as contests, promotions, and halftime activations.
Help manage credentialing and access for staff, media, and VIPs.
Coordinate with guest services and ticketing teams to ensure smooth fan entry and exit.
Assist with inventory tracking and transportation of game day materials.
Staffing & Logistics
Help recruit, train, and schedule game day volunteers and interns.
Provide on-site support and direction to game day staff during events.
Assist in preparing run-of-show documents and scripts for home matches.
Community Relations & Outreach
Attend and support community events, school visits, and player appearances.
Transport and manage event materials (pop-up tents, signage, tables, etc.)
Assist with setup, breakdown, and logistics for outreach activations.
Capture live content for social media and internal use.
Help maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, and nonprofits.
Administrative & Reporting Tasks
Assist in tracking event performance and compiling post-game reports.
Maintain organized documentation of community engagements and donation requests.
Support planning and scheduling of outreach events and media opportunities.
Team Culture & Collaboration
Contribute to a positive and energetic office environment.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support team initiatives.
Demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and a team-first attitude.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Marketing, or a related field.
Strong interest in sports operations, event planning, and community engagement.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and event management tools is a plus.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Passion for volleyball and the sports industry.
