The Huntsville Havoc are a professional ice hockey team in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). We pride ourselves on delivering thrilling hockey experiences and top-notch merchandise to our dedicated fan base. We are seeking a passionate, personable, and energetic Merchandise Intern to join our team for the upcoming season.

Internship Overview: As a Merchandise Intern, you will assist in managing our retail operations, including the team store and merchandise sales. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and professional development in sports retail management and fan engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Retail Coordinator with day-to-day and gameday merchandise operations such as restocking and maintenance of team store, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Help create visually appealing merchandise displays that attract and engage fans.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist fans with merchandise inquiries.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of merchandise promotions and game day activities.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Coordinator to ensure effective in-store signage and promotional materials.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, maintaining inventory, and maintaining retail records.
  • Assisting in labeling and organization of merchandise.
  • Conduct market research to stay updated on sports merchandise trends and competitor activities.
  • Assist with supervising game day kiosk staff including scheduling of hours and training.
  • Assist with other tasks and/or projects associated with the team opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Business, Retail Management, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong passion for sports and retail operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
  • Previous experience in Shopify, Square App, or any Point-of-Sale System (POS) is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in cash handling and credit card processing is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods (over 4 hours) during games and events.
