About the Columbus River Dragons
The Columbus River Dragons, members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) since 2019, are a professional hockey team located in Columbus, Georgia. We pride ourselves on providing an elite, high-energy hockey experience for our fans while maintaining a strong culture of professionalism, accountability, and team-first values behind the scenes.
Position Summary
As a Photography/Videography Intern, youโll play a key role in documenting the seasonโon the ice, behind the scenes, and in the stands. From action shots during games to community events, your content will bring the River Dragonsโ brand to life and help fans feel closer to the team. This is a hands-on opportunity ideal for students interested in sports media, digital storytelling, or photography/videography careers
Key Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality action photos of all home games, including game play, bench activity, fan interaction, promotions, and sponsor activations.
- Photograph and record community events, fan experiences, team appearances, and promotional activities.
- Fulfill corporate and group photography needs, ensuring sponsors and VIPs are featured as outlined by the marketing team.
- Execute content from a predetermined shot list and collaborate with the social and marketing team in additional creative direction.
- Edit and deliver organized photo and video content to the internal server no later than the morning after each game or event.
- Tag, label, and sort assets by date, event, and subject for future use.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of photography principles, lighting, and composition.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be available for all home games and select events throughout the season.
- Ability to remain focused in high-energy, fast-paced environments.
- This is not a paid internship, but may be used for course credit.
- 17+ years of age.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in sports or live-event photography/videography.
- Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and other post-production tools.
- Knowledge of video editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut.
- Familiarity with hockey and game flow (to anticipate key moments on the ice).
- Ownership of a professional-grade DSLR or mirrorless camera, telephoto lens, and basic audio/video accessories.
