About this role:
The USGA is committed to hosting safe championships for its employees, contractors, players, and fans. The Safety Intern will assist the Safety Director in the identification, evaluation, and control of worksite hazards ensuring a safe and successful execution of the 2025 U.S. Open Championship. The Safety Intern will assist with multiple phases of the Championship buildout including advance set-up, Championship week responsibilities, and post-Championship breakdown. The hourly rate is $15.00 - $20.00 per hour, and candidates are eligible for overtime pay (time and a half) for any hours over (40) a week. Accommodations and transportation are provided.
Working at the U.S. Open, you will experience a fast-paced work environment. The successful candidate must have the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks at one time. Each day brings new challenges, and the intern must have exceptional organizational and communication skills. The candidate must be able to handle physical tasks such as lifting boxes and manual labor and will likely be spending extensive time in the sun. The weeks leading up to the Championship will require at least (40) hour work weeks and as the Championship grows closer, lengthen to (60+) hours. This position will include some weekends.
