About the Columbus River Dragons
The Columbus River Dragons, members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) since 2019, are a professional hockey team located in Columbus, Georgia. We pride ourselves on providing an elite, high-energy hockey experience for our fans while maintaining a strong culture of professionalism, accountability, and team-first values behind the scenes.
Position Summary
This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports ticket sales, customer engagement, and fan development in a fast-paced professional hockey environment. Sales Interns will gain valuable experience working directly with the teamโs ticketing and sales staff, supporting initiatives to drive attendance, enhance fan satisfaction, and create long-lasting community connections.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify potential sales leads and sponsorship opportunities across youth sports organizations, businesses, schools, and community groups.
- Make outbound calls and send emails daily to promote River Dragons ticket plans, group outings, and special events.
- Schedule phone appointments and assist in setting up sales meetings for team leadership.
- Assist with outbound ticket sales campaigns including full menu options: season tickets, group packages, mini plans, and premium offerings.
- Answer inbound customer service calls and respond to fan inquiries via phone or email in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide exceptional customer service to new and returning fans, ensuring a positive ticket-buying experience.
- Maintain accurate lead tracking, contact logs, and database entries through CRM platforms.
- Support in-arena sales activations and ticket redemption areas on game nights.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by ticketing and business operations staff.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a confident phone presence.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a high-energy setting.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced professional sports environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and all home games.
- This is not a paid internship, but may be used for course credit.
- 17+ years of age.
Preferred Skills
- Background in business, marketing, or sports management.
- Prior experience in customer service or sales (preferred but not required).
- Confident in cold-calling and building rapport quickly.
- Goal-oriented and results-driven mindset.
- Comfortable using CRM systems and sales tools.
- Passion for hockey or live sports events.
