Indy Ignite brings the heat of professional women’s volleyball to Central Indiana. As part of Major League Volleyball, the nation’s premier pro volleyball league, our mission is to pursue victory, empower women and serve our community through the competitive world of pro volleyball. Together, we are paving the way for the next generation of women’s sports and inspiring girls to pursue their passion with relentless ambition. Indy Ignite ended its inaugural season in 2025 as the runner-up in the MLV Championship. We will begin our second season in January 2026.
Position Summary
The Social Media Intern works closely with the Social Media Manager to grow Indy Ignite’s presence across all social media channels.
Indy Ignite is seeking a creative and driven student who’s passionate about social media and digital content. This internship is the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the sports industry while learning social and digital media best practices.
As a Social Media Intern, you’ll have the chance to:
- Assist with filming and capturing behind-the-scenes content at practices, games, and community events.
- Help create and post engaging content across all Indy Ignite social platforms.
- Monitor, interact, and engage with fans in the comments to build community and strengthen our online presence.

This internship will begin in January and end in May with an expected 20 working hours per week including all Indy Ignite home matches, Monday through Friday with flexible hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm. There will be occasional requirements for longer hours during the week and/or on weekends based on games and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and will work from the headquarters office in Fishers, IN with the flexibility to work from home (remote).
This position will be compensated at a rate of $10/hour. The position will span from January - May 2026 dependent on the Indy Ignite post season schedule.
Responsibilities Include
- Assists with social media content ideation, creation, and copywriting on all social platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube).
- Assists with real time coverage during local events and ALL Indy Ignite home games
- Assists with engagement across all social platforms to help drive audience growth.
- Researches trends and topics in the sports and entertainment industry to create content to fit within Indy Ignite’s strategy. This includes offering recommendations for better outcomes.
- Supports with data asset management platform content categorizing
- Support mascot content creation and game day filming
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Actively pursuing a college degree, preferably in marketing, digital media, communications, or related field.
- Ability to capture dynamic, engaging footage using a variety of devices (smartphones, DSLRs, etc.)
- Must have a demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, their unique audiences, and how to use them to maximize engagement efforts.
- Passion and enthusiasm for using social media and marketing to reach consumers.
- Ability to follow brand guidelines and work within existing processes while also contributing fresh ideas.
- Willingness to learn about the sport of volleyball and contribute to its promotion through creative work.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to accept and apply feedback.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic, cross-functional team working toward a common goal.
- Flexibility with your work schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends based on event needs.
- Must live/go to school within commutable distance from Indy Ignite headquarters in Fishers, IN.
- Must possess reliable transportation and hold a valid driver’s license.
