Summary/Objective:

The Astros Golf Foundation, proud host organization of Houstonโ€™s PGA TOUR event, the Texas Childrenโ€™s Houston Open, is seeking a Sponsorship Relations Intern to assist with sponsorship management and activation. This role will provide hands-on experience supporting sponsor communications, activation logistics, and event deliverables to ensure a high-quality partner experience. In addition to the Houston Open, this internship will include exposure to other marquee events produced by the Astros Golf Foundation. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This candidate will work directly with the Manager of Ticketing and Sponsorship.  This internship also includes the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Astros Golf Foundation departments, such as Operations, Volunteers, Ticketing, Revenue and Retail. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Assist and support the tournament staff with tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Assist with activating sponsorship contracts.
  • Manage partnership fulfillment, including tracking deadlines and deliverables.
  • Act as a second point of contact for sponsors.
  • Manages Honorary Observer program with the Committee Chair during tournament week.
  • Assist Sales/Activation team in annual proof of performance/recap reports.
  • Aid in miscellaneous operational duties required on-course & in the tournament office.
  • Pro am & event support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • At least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled in a related field (Sports Management, PGA Management, Hospitality, Business Management) between January & May
  • Reside or willing to relocate to/near the Houston, Texas area from January 5-May 15, 2026, at your own expense.
  • Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to Memorial Park Golf Course office and to offsite locations.
  • Must have a desire to gain experience in a professional sports and entertainment environment.
  • Have a strong, interpersonal skills that complement a proactive, solution driven, team-oriented work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Comfortable making phone calls and meeting with clients/vendors/volunteers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) and internet software
  • Ability to maintain discretion concerning confidential information.
  • Knowledge of golf and golf events is not a requirement but a plus.

 

Work Environment

This job will operate in both an office and golf course setting. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the golf course environment.  This role can require physical work and will sometimes require work in the elements (wind, rain, warm, cold, etc.).  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopier. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a paid internship.

 Typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interns are required to be onsite during the week of the Texas Childrenโ€™s Houston Open, as well as for all other events produced by the Astros Golf Foundation throughout the period of their internship.

 

Travel:

This position does not require travel.
