Located five miles from downtown Boston, Tufts University is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the highly-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Tufts students participate in 30 varsity sports, 20 club sports and a number of intramural sports. Tufts Athletics has won thirteen NCAA team championships since 2010 and has finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup in each of the last 10 years, including winning the Director's Cup in 2021-2022 as the top Division III Athletic Department in the nation. Tufts Athletics oversees the Physical Education Department and manages all athletics facilities, including the Steve Tisch Sports & Fitness Center which opened in 2012. The Department of Athletics provides student-athletes a dynamic, transformational experience on and off the field. Responsibilities:
The intern’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting the Director of Athletic Communications in promoting and publicizing all of the university’s 30 varsity sports. Serve as the primary contact for assigned sports. This work involves scoring games with statistical software, writing press releases, updating social media, updating the Athletics website using SideArmSports software and other duties as assigned. Weekend and night work required.

Skills You Will Learn:
In addition to acquiring public relations and game management experience at one of the most successful NCAA Division III schools in the nation, you will gain valuable skills in graphic design and video editing by being trained to use the Adobe suite of products (Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro).

Compensation:
Minimum of $12,000 for the nine-month period ($1,500 per month).

Qualifications: 
- A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in sport management, journalism, public relations, or a related field;
- Applicants should have excellent writing skills;
-Experience with NLS LiveStats, Stat Crew and/or Presto Stats Entry software and familiarity with video and graphics production would be a plus.
