•Benedict College invites applications for Student-Athlete Social Media Intern. Benedict College is an NCAA Division II program and a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). This position will report to the Senior Director of Athletic Communications, and be mentored by the Assistant Director of Athletics and the Director of Athletics. This is a one-year position funded by an NCAA Division II Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship grant from the NCAA and the term will run from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. The Student-Athlete Social Media Intern will be responsible for enhancing the visibility and engagement of the institution’s student-athletes through strategic social media content. This role supports the branding and promotion of athletic programs while highlighting the achievements, experiences, and personalities of student-athletes across various platforms. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create and implement an overall digital content, social media strategy and production plan to promote the visibility of the department of athletics and all Benedict College Tigers sports, accomplishments of student-athletes, and enhance the brand of Benedict College Athletics.

Develop and execute a content calendar focused on student-athlete stories, achievements, and behind-the-scenes moments.

Responsible for social media game day graphics, win graphics, etc., for the Benedict College athletic teams.  Work with each team on their individual social media accounts as well.

Cover live events and games to provide real-time content and updates.

Responsible for social media graphics recognizing student-athletes for various conference and national accomplishments.

Develop and implement marketing and promotional plans for athletic events to boost fan engagement and ticket sales.

Handle creative services for the athletic department.  This includes creating graphics for social media, video for social media (reels, etc.), producing hype videos, and general graphic needs for the department.

Provide content for the in-house television screens around campus, and also for the video board for football and basketball games.

Explore new multimedia approaches, formats and channels to best share achievements and the athletics story. Develop content such as online program media guides, videos and materials. Coordinate sessions such as photos and video content with athletic programs. Maintain a file of photos and videos to be used in publications.

Ensure compliance with NCAA, SIAC, and Benedict College policies.

Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Athletic Communications, the Director of Athletics or the Assistant Director or Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator.

 

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

The appointed individual will:

Have a Bachelor’s degree.

Possess experience with all forms of social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram).

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for athletic events.

Strong understanding of collegiate athletic environments and fan engagement strategies.

Be able to communicate with coaches, student-athletes, media and staff.

Must be reliable, possess a strong work ethic, have the ability to work independently and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Have experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom), Canva, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

Possess experience in video editing using Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Final Cut Pro preferred.

Experience with sports photography and videography.
