The Charlotte Checkers are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates for our 2025-2026 Season Internship Program. Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience in the fast-paced, results-driven world of the AHL. Finalists will be contacted for interviews. All applications will be kept on file until the beginning of the internship program that each candidate applied for.
 
About the Charlotte Checkers:
The Charlotte Checkers are a professional ice hockey team and a proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers. Based in Charlotte, NC, the Checkers are known for delivering thrilling live sports entertainment and engaging with their passionate fanbase. As one of the premier teams in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Checkers offer a fast-paced, high-energy environment that fosters growth, innovation, and creativity. The Checkers will play a 36-game home schedule during the 2025-26 season, starting in October 2025 and lasting until mid-April 2026. Playoffs can extend the season until late June.

Position Overview:
The internship program offers hands-on experience in ticket sales, marketing, and game operations. Interns will learn various skills while working closely with all members of the Checkers Front Office through assisting on gamedays. 
 
Timeline: October 2025 – April 2026 (or after Playoffs)
 
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes.

As an intern, your responsibilities may include the following: 
·       Attend at least 30 home games of the Charlotte Checkers (Weekdays & Weekends)
·       Assist in the execution of theme nights and promotions.
·       Assists with in-game production and promotional activities, including selecting contestants for on-ice games and in-game promotions, finding Zamboni riders, coordinating with National Anthem performers, monitoring interactive concourse tables, work with group outings, etc.
·       Manage the Chuck-A-Puck table and 50/50 raffle table during games.
·       Assisting staff with promotional giveaways and couponing initiatives.
·       Assist with the setup and teardown preparation on game days.
·       Assisting with selling merchandise when needed. 
·       Accurately track and distribute ticket packages/promotional items, STH pre-order item pick up, etc. 
·       Proactively collect contact information from fans and potential customers who inquire about ticket packages/season tickets, groups, and related inquiries during games.
·       Stay on top of all current promotions, ticket packages, pricing, and policies. (i.e., holiday packs, season ticket benefits, STH events, promo nights, etc.) 
·       Provide feedback, in an appropriate manner, to help improve the guest and staff experience and inform immediate supervisors of incidents and important information.
·       Other duties assigned

Internship Requirements
·       Working towards a four-year college degree, or graduate degree, or recent graduate in Marketing, Business Administration, or Sports Management
·       Housing and transportation in the Charlotte Area
·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
·       Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
·       Experience in marketing and/or customer service
·       Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.
·       Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
·       Strong professional attitude
·       Experience in the sports industry preferred.

Compensation: 
This is a non-paid internship. If an intern needs school credit, they can receive hours.
